Paddles
In Coastal First Nations’ cultures the paddle is very significant. It is symbolic of the journeys made from far off lands by visitors to our shores. It represents the coming together of diverse groups. Even more so, it represents the partnerships we commit to, and our collective direction.
When one paddles along with you, at your side, together you are working toward the same goal; committed to the same vision; and heading for the same place. When we offer a paddle as a gift, it is to say, “we pull together as one”.
Spirit Works’ paddles are made with Western Red Cedar from a recycled or salvaged source. No trees are taken for the purpose of their creation. In addition the abalone used in our inlays is the by-product of a farmed food fishery and is therefore harvested in a sustainable fashion.
Every paddle comes with a Certificate of Authenticity ensuring that it is an Authentic Aboriginal Product. Also accompanying each paddle is the story explaining the significance of the paddle in our culture, and a bio of the artist.
